Everton show interest in out-of-contract Leeds United man amid Manchester United links - report

Everton have reportedly shown interest in out-of-contract Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow

Everton are the latest club to have been linked with out-of-contract Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

The 35-year-old ended last season as the main man between the sticks at Elland Road having dislodged Lucas Perri as Daniel Farke’s number one.

He enjoyed a strong end to the campaign, playing a key role in Leeds’ successful battle against relegation from the Premier League.

Sky Sports have claimed Everton have now shown interest in Darlow as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping stable.

The Toffees currently have three senior stoppers in their ranks - Jordan Pickford, Mark Travers and Tom King.

Manchester United have again been named as admirers in the report, which has suggested the Red Devils could intensify their interest in Darlow if Altay Bayindir departs.

Leeds United uncertainty

Darlow featured more prominently last season than he did in either of Leeds’ previous two campaigns, which were both spent in the Championship.

He appeared to relish his key role at Elland Road but could find himself demoted to the understudy position if Leeds recruit a new gloveman this summer.

The likes of Manchester United and Everton, meanwhile, could potentially offer lucrative contracts that may prove appealing with Darlow most likely in the final years of his career.

On the potential incomings front, Leeds continue to be linked with Parma and Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

While he is thought to be a player of interest, reports have suggested the Whites are not active pursuit. Uncertainty over Darlow’s future is hardly ideal for the West Yorkshire club, who will be keen to have clarity over their current crop before committing to getting new recruits on board.
