Chelsea transfer news: Chelsea make contact for £100m Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi
Chelsea transfer news: Chelsea have officially made their opening move. The Stamford Bridge brass have established communication with the representatives of Bournemouth’s breakout attacker, Eli Junior Kroupi. They want him. Todd Boehly is obsessed with hoarding the world’s best young talent, and the French sensation is an ideal profile after a staggering year on the south coast.
It will not be a straightforward free run, though. Far from it. Fresh reports from CaughtOffside reveal that the West London outfit has walked straight into a massive transfer scrap with several heavyweight European rivals.
Arsenal and PSG are interested in the £100m frontman
Mikel Arteta wants more firepower. The Arsenal manager is eager to bolster his front line to mount another fierce Premier League title charge, and the Gunners have tracked the 20-year-old closely ever since he began tormenting English top-flight defences. Getting him out of the Vitality Stadium is another matter entirely. Bournemouth hold all the leverage here. Kroupi signed a long-term contract running until June 2030, meaning the Cherries can dictate terms. They want a fee in excess of £100 million. Ridiculous money, but that is the price of admission for a genuine prodigy.
Paris Saint-Germain are also ready to gatecrash the party. The Parisian giants need a replacement for AC Milan-bound Gonçalo Ramos, and French media sources suggest the capital city club is actually the player’s ultimate dream destination.
His stock is at an all-time high. A historic debut season saw Kroupi smash 13 goals in 33 Premier League matches, making him the highest-scoring teenager in a debut year in the competition’s history. He did it against the elite, too, netting against Manchester City, Arsenal, and Manchester United.
That lethal finishing helped Andoni Iraola secure a historic sixth-place finish for Bournemouth. Chelsea think his clinical edge and tactical flexibility are exactly what is missing from their current project.
The money is the obstacle. Negotiating with the Bournemouth board is going to be a nightmare given that massive £100 million price tag. Chelsea have to move fast, or they risk losing him to North London or Paris.
