Liverpool “showing keen interest” in Kaishu Sano
According to Japanese outlet Nikkan Sports, the club are “showing keen interest” in Sano, a defensive midfielder who currently plays for Mainz.
The report suggests “a big offer may be coming” for the 25-year-old, having attracted the interest of Liverpool after two seasons in Germany.
Man United, Arsenal, and Borussia Dortmund have also been named as suitors for the Japan international, who boasts impressive availability that would appeal to Liverpool – he has started every game for Mainz for the last two seasons.

He is a tireless player who breaks up attacks and recycles possession, but there are serious off-field matters that must also be considered.
In July 2024, Sano and two other men were arrested after allegations made by a woman in Tokyo. According to reports, prosecutors chose not to move forward with the case after a settlement was reached.
Following the incident, Sano released a statement through his agents, saying: “I offer my sincere apology to the victim for my actions that caused great trouble.”

7 attacking ‘alternatives’ RANKED
With a move for Yan Diomande failing to materialise, Liverpool will now turn to potential alternatives, seven of whom Sam Millne has assessed:
Liverpool are almost certain not to sign their first-choice target this summer, Diomande, after it was reported that he would prefer a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
Two-footed, creative and young, he would have been the ideal candidate to replace Mo Salah on the right. However, the Reds’ scouting department must now find another.
Several names have already been linked to Liverpool, see who they could turn to next in the link below.

July 1 is a day for new signings and has been for quite some time!
Adam Lallana (2014), Danny Ings (2015), James Milner (2015), Joel Matip (2016), Mo Salah (2017), Naby Keita (2018), Fabinho (2018), Ibrahima Konate (2021), Fabio Carvalho (2022), Freddie Woodman (2025) and Giorgi Mamardashvili (2025) are among those to have been announced.
Jeremy Jacquet has since joined the list this year after the club agreed a £60 million deal in advance of the transfer window.
It is quite the list, and it is hard to believe that only Woodman and Mamardashvili remain at the club!
