Former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda believes Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola possesses all the qualities required to succeed in the Premier League, as speculation surrounding the French international’s future continues to gather pace.
Barcola has emerged as one of the most sought-after attacking talents in European football following an outstanding campaign with the French champions. His pace, technical ability and creativity have reportedly attracted interest from several of England’s biggest clubs, with CHELSEA, Arsenal and Liverpool all credited with monitoring the 23-year-old’s situation.
While Paris Saint-Germain have shown no indication that they are prepared to part ways with one of their brightest young stars, transfer speculation has intensified in recent weeks as Premier League clubs continue to assess options to strengthen their attacking departments before the new season.
Malouda, who spent six successful years at Stamford Bridge and won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League with the Blues, believes Barcola would have little trouble adapting to English football should a move eventually materialise.
Speaking about the winger’s attributes, Malouda praised Barcola’s intelligence, speed and confidence in one-on-one situations, suggesting those qualities would make him an ideal fit for the intensity of the Premier League.
The former France international also highlighted the youngster’s willingness to work defensively and his maturity despite his relatively young age
He told BOYLE Sports: “When you look at Bradley Barcola’s story, first of all, he’s coming from the Lyon Academy.
“He made the right choices. When he left, it was not easy for him. He left and he won two Champions Leagues in the best team in French football history.
“Of course, it’s challenging when you’re competing with Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue to start, but he showed every time he came on that he has the same level, maybe not as consistent, but he has the potential.
“He could fit in any Premier League team. He’s a very talented young player.”
CHELSEA‘s long-standing interest comes as the club continues to prioritise emerging talent capable of developing into world-class performers. The west London side have invested heavily in young players over recent transfer windows, and Barcola is viewed by many as fitting that recruitment model perfectly.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are understood to be exploring options to increase competition across their forward line as Mikel Arteta looks to build on another title challenge. Liverpool have also been linked with the France international as they continue to reshape their attack following recent squad changes under Arne Slot.
