Liverpool have got a problem to solve over Curtis Jones.
The 25-year-old midfielder has got a contract which expires in 2027 - meaning sporting director Richard Hughes is running out of time to cash in.
Jones - a two-time Premier League title winner - was linked with a move to either Tottenham or Inter Milan in January. But owing to a lack of options elsewhere the six-cap England international remained with his boyhood club.
Jones' hopes of Inter deal are fading
Inter are back however - knocking on Liverpool’s door for a deal. Right now there is a significant gap between what Liverpool are asking for - and what Inter are willing to pay.
There is little to no chance of the Nerazzurri reaching the outgoing Premier League champions’ £35m valuation of the No17. And unless that gap can be breached then Jones will either be staying at Liverpool or heading to a different club.
Premier League suitors emerge for Jones
From the Premier League Tottenham may well come into the frame - while North London rivals Arsenal are also thought to be keen. The Gunners along with Aston Villa are mentioned in a new report from the Liverpool Echo - along with Nottingham Forest.
The Tricky Trees need a midfielder due to Elliot Anderson’s sale to Manchester City with Inter’s Davide Frattesi also a target. But the report adds that Jones will NOT be moving to Forest.
“Jones is believed to not want to sign for Nottingham Forest, who are in the market for a midfielder after Elliot Anderson agreed to join Manchester City for £116m,” the report reads.
“Aston Villa and Arsenal have also been linked with the Liverpool man during the transfer window.”

Jones decides against Nottingham Forest move
It remains to be seen what comes to pass for Liverpool’s Scouse playmaker. He was unable to win over Arne Slot to become a consistent starter it he midfield - leading to speculation that he would seek a move elsewhere.
Don’t rule out the possibility of a new contractthough - especially if Jones knuckles down under new head coach Andoni Iraola and wins him over in preseason.
