Jurgen Klopp could be handed his pathway back into management in the near future, as Sky Germany reports that a decision will be made over the German national team job in the coming days.

The former Liverpool boss has been heavily touted as a possible replacement for Julian Nagelsmann, following the team's disappointing round of 32 exit at the World Cup to Paraguay.

It extended a frustrating run for the nation dating back to 2014, with the World Cup triumph that year being followed up by three tournaments without a win in the knockout stages.

There was some hope that Nagelsmann would be able to inject some new energy and life into the setup, having already experienced plenty as a young coach before taking up the position.

The latest knockback has brought up questions surrounding the direction of German soccer; however, the head coach position is under particular scrutiny following the tournament exit.

Nagelsmann could lead his nation out at the 2028 European Championships, with his current contract extending to that competition, while he has claimed he won't resign unless he is asked to leave the post.

That decision from the chiefs in German soccer could come in the following days, as Sky Germany claims that a call will be made soon over the manager's position.

On top of that, Klopp has been outlined as a "dream candidate" to immediately take over from Nagelsmann, should they decide that a change in direction is required.

Internal talks are planned before that call is made, but the 59-year-old is claimed to be open to the possibility of returning to management with his country.

It would be a sensational move for the ex-Liverpool boss, giving him the chance to get back onto the touchline without the day-to-day management that brought about the burnout he felt at the end of his tenure at Anfield.

The move wouldn't be without its controversy, though. Klopp's role on Magenta TV, the German TV outlet, over the World Cup has largely overshadowed parts of the tournament for Germany.

Klopp had to apologise to Nagelsmann for comments he made that could have been interpreted as him lining up for the head coach role after his departure.

Should he take on the role, it may be a surprising switch, but one that would offer the manager a route back into management on the international stage.
