Liverpool’s transfer plans have taken an almighty hit over the past week, but there is still plenty of work for the club to do this summer.
The pursuit of Yan Diomande looks as though it might have reached its end, with the 19-year-old having decided he wants to move to Paris Saint-Germain instead. Now that his involvement at the World Cup is over, we could see his future settled soon.
The Reds will therefore have to look at alternatives, although a move for Bradley Barcola already looks as though it might be off the table, even if Diomande heads to Paris. There are fresh reports though suggesting there might still be some hope for Liverpool.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.
Bradley Barcola (PSG)
Paris Saint-Germain could sell Bradley Barcola this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, but only if a big offer is made.
The claim comes after The Athletic suggested that PSG viewed the winger as being not for sale, despite Barcola being reluctant to sign a new contract. Romano indicates that talks between the club and the player have been on standby for a year.
Liverpool is mentioned as being "very keen" while Arsenal also has Barcola on its list. To give an indication as to how big the offer might need to be, it was claimed earlier this week that PSG would be looking for more than the $154M (£116M) that Manchester City is set to pay for Elliot Anderson.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
Liverpool.com says: You'd imagine PSG probably could be talked into selling Barcola this summer if it ends up signing Diomande, but if Liverpool is going to make a move, that price will need to come down significantly.
There were already doubts about the amount RB Leipzig was holding out for, so signing Barcola for even more money feels like it would be out of the question. That's before you consider Liverpool has plenty of other areas in the squad to address.
Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
AC Milan is interested in signing Virgil van Dijk this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
It's claimed that the Italian club's senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic identified the Liverpool captain as a "dream" signing in the spring, and the idea has now made its way to Milan owner Gerry Cardinale.

It's suggested that an offer could be made this summer, although with Ibrahima Konate having already left, it's highly unlikely Liverpool would allow Van Dijk to go.
Liverpool.com says: There is surely no way Liverpool would even consider letting Van Dijk leave this summer. With just two young defenders and an injury-prone Joe Gomez beyond him at center-back, it would make absolutely no sense.

And apart from anything else, this might well prove to be Van Dijk's final year as a Liverpool player. He absolutely deserves to go out with a proper Anfield farewell, not midway through a summer.
