Harvey Elliott is set to report back to the AXA Training Centre for day one of pre-season this month, before a decision is made over his future at Liverpool.
Elliott has been given an opportunity to resurrect his Liverpool career having been previously cast out by Arne Slot.
After failing to trigger a £35 million permanent move to Aston Villa, a change in the dugout at Anfield has handed the popular midfielder a fresh start.
It remains to be seen whether Elliott will figure in Andoni Iraola‘s long-term plans, but any decision on if he will stay or go is set to be made late in the summer.
The Athletic‘s Gregg Evans reports that the 23-year-old “will assess his options closer to the start of the campaign” on the understanding that he is “in need of regular games.”
Should Liverpool keep Harvey Elliott?

A move to RB Leipzig, who were interested last summer, has been downplayed, while a campaign spent largely inactive will weaken Liverpool’s hand in negotiations if Elliott were to be sold.
The more logical step may be retaining the No. 19 given he is capable of covering a number of roles to a high standard, qualifies as a homegrown player and still possesses significant potential to develop further.
Elliott is a boyhood Liverpool supporter who is the seventh-most experienced player in the current first-team squad, with 149 appearances for the club.
That could be particularly useful for a squad that is still in transition, and Iraola’s ability to nurture talent could allow the England U21 international to take another step in his career.
Liverpool are expected to begin pre-season training at the AXA on July 13, with a strong group available to the head coach from day one.

But having seen Mo Salah depart and without Hugo Ekitike due to long-term injury, there should still be plenty of game time on offer for Elliott when the Reds head on their tour of the United States.
There, friendlies against Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds await, before an Anfield double-header against Monaco and Como later in the summer.
The Premier League campaign kicks off against Newcastle on August 23, while the transfer window closes on September 1.
