David Seaman Backs Arsenal To Make£40M Swoop On PL Rival For“Very Dangerous”Player

Arsenal legend David Seaman says he “would like” his former club to make a move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

The England international is reportedly available for £40m, and Seaman told The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast that Rashford remains a potent attacking weapon:

“I would like that move because I still think Marcus Rashford has got a lot to offer. He’s still very dangerous when he’s on it.”

“But then, straight away, my head then goes, ‘Who’s he gonna replace?’ We’ve got [Gabriel] Martinelli and [Leandro] Trossard. If they sign Rashford, they’re probably going to get rid of one of those two. But he is a real talent.”

Rashford does not want to join another Premier League club

It is believed that the 28-year-old has no interest in leaving Old Trafford for another English team, with his preferred destination being Barcelona.

However, United are unwilling to sanction another loan move to the Camp Nou, which leaves them with a difficult decision to make on Rashford.

There are now suggestions that manager Michael Carrick is considering reintegrating the winger into the first team squad ahead of next season.

Arsenal are targeting 2 other players

Strengthening the left flank is one of the top priorities for both manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta, but Rashford is not one of the names being looked at.

Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers remains their top target, but his £130m asking price could prove to be an obstacle. If it is decided that the 23-year-old is too expensive to sign, the expectation is that the Gunners will switch their attention to Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.

Seaman’s former teammate, Alan Smith, says that Barcola may end up being just as costly after his exploits for France at the World Cup, so neither deal is likely to be easy to secure.
