Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is reportedly set to leave Anfield to join former colleague Simon Francis at Al-Hilal.

Hughes, who joined Liverpool back in June 2024, has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League side for months. His contract is due to run through to next summer. However, it now looks as though this summer will be his final transfer window in charge of Liverpool's recruitment, with him expected to follow Francis to Al-Hilal.

Earlier this year, it was reported Hughes had been identified by the Saudi Pro League side as a target.

According to The Athletic, the club is currently working under the assumption that Hughes will join Francis, his former teammate at Bournemouth, who is currently in charge of recruitment at Al-Hilal.

Francis and Hughes also worked together as part of Bournemouth's technical team before Hughes departed for Merseyside back in 2024. In his place, Francis stepped up as the Cherries' technical director before departing from the role earlier this year.
