'Maybe if it was Liverpool' - Drinan 'fully committed' to staying with Swindon

Drinan had the season of a lifetime for Swindon in 2025/26, netting 28 goals across all competitions as League Two's top goalscorer and Player of the Season.

However, his individual brilliance did not quite translate to team success, as a struggling second half of the season saw Swindon miss the playoffs, even though Drinan's goal tally remained strong throughout the campaign.

Having not won promotion, a player of Drinan's ability was always going to attract attention, and teams in League One are known to be monitoring him, and could well make a move to bring him in this summer.

Salford City made offers of £250,000 and £400,000 for him late in the January window, although they were told he was not for sale under any circumstances, and Swindon were upset with The Ammies for what was perceived to be an attempt to unsettle a rival.

Speaking at the Fans’ Forum at the start of May, Holloway was asked about Drinan and did not rule out his departure as he had with other players.

Having previously been insulted by the suggestion that he would entertain bids for his players, Holloway said he would be “absolutely gobsmacked” if he didn’t receive any bids for Drinan, and said he would sit down with his striker and “weigh up what the boy wants.”

The Irish striker has returned to pre-season with Swindon this week, and has begun preparing for the new season with the rest of the squad.

When asked whether he had received any offers for his players, Holloway said that he had "not had one call" to deal with yet.

Drinan is not the only Swindon player of interest elsewhere, with Joe Snowdon and Fletcher Holman both attracting admirers from higher up the football pyramid, but Town are hoping to be able to hold onto them unless a seismic offer comes in.

When asked about whether he was pleased to have not had to deal with anything about a Drinan offer yet, Holloway was unequivocal that his star striker remained committed to Swindon.

He said: "It is quite easy to deal with: he has a decent contract, he signed it, and he wants to be here.

"We will see who it is, if it was Liverpool or if it was Arsenal, would I stand in his way? I don't think that I would.

"He is fully committed to us. Anything can change, and you never know what is going to happen: did I expect us to be as bad as we were when we lost Finley Munroe? No. How annoying is that, but that is life, and we get on with it.

"We will see what happens. I am not in control of it, I can only do what I need to try to do, and I did not do that well enough last year, so let's hope I can."
