Liverpool have endured a frustrating start to the summer transfer window, but there was some positive news this week as Jeremy Jacquet’s move to Anfield was officially confirmed.
The French defender agreed his transfer in January and is expected to play a significant role next season following Ibrahima Konate’s departure.
Osasuna forward Victor Munoz has also arrived, but Liverpool have so far been frustrated in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements. Yan Diomande was a leading target, but if the RB Leipzig forward leaves this summer, he is expected to join PSG.
Bradley Barcola has also emerged as a potential target, although PSG are reluctant to sanction his departure, while another reported Liverpool target is closing in on a move to a Premier League rival.
Meanwhile, Liverpool academy goalkeeper Godwin Ike is set to join League Two side Salford City, according toThe Talent Hunter.
The highly-rated 14-year-old rejected offers from several Category One and Category Two academies in favour of Salford, where he is expected to play above his age group with the club’s Under-18s while also receiving opportunities to train with the first team.It is regarded as a major coup for Salford City’s academy.
Salford City have, meanwhile, confirmed their retained and released list.The club currently have 13 players under contract, including captain Luke Garbutt, Kallum Cesay and Ade Oluwo, who all signed new deals during the campaign.
Contract options have also been exercised for former Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn, Kelly Nmai, Josh Austerfield, Kyrell Malcolm and Ros Longelo.A new contract has been offered to Ollie Turton, whose current deal expires this month.
Meanwhile, loan quartet Matty Young, Alfie Dorrington, Prince Ehibhatiomhan and Nico Siri will return to their parent clubs following the end of their spells at the Peninsula Stadium.
Several players will leave the club upon the expiry of their contracts, including Ossama Ashley and Dan Chesters after three seasons, as well as Cole Stockton, Tom Edwards and Haji Mnoga. Kadeem Harris, former Liverpool forward Fabio Borini, Mark Howard and Mackenzie Chapman will also depart.
In addition, Development Squad players and scholars Jai Curran-Nicholls, Jacob Lara, Alfie Henderson, Luca Jackson, Robbie Cleary, Ellis Craven, Khadim Diop, Jake Dodd, Joel Kane, Billy Midgley, Brad Mundy, Harry Showman, Luke Simmons and James Wright have all been released.
