Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez's agent, Javier Pastore, has admitted that the Argentine midfielder is looking to switch clubs after the FIFA World Cup. He added that they are currently not discussing the possible transfer, as the defending champions are focused on the Cape Verde game.
Speaking to MARCA, Pastore said that Fernandez is calm about his situation, though they have not agreed terms with any club. He added that they are exploring options, but a move is not guaranteed.
"At the moment, the player is calmly focusing on the national team. He’s playing in a World Cup and is very close to reaching the round of 16. He’s thinking only about that, whilst we’re looking at options for him to leave Chelsea, but there’s nothing definite or confirmed with any club." (via TNT Sports)
The Argentine player-turned-agent added that Madrid is a city everyone loves, and Fernandez was visiting regularly as he wanted to spend time with Julian Alvarez. He revealed that he lives in the Spanish capital as well and said:
"He has lots of friends there [at Real Madrid], and he’s very close to Julian Alvarez. In fact, whenever they can, they spend time together there. And I’m living in Madrid too. Every time he’s travelled there, it’s been to see me and to sort out work matters, but apart from that: who doesn’t like Madrid? I never played in Madrid… yet I even live there."
Pastore previously spoke about Fernandez moving to Real Madrid, saying that there was nothing in the works. He spoke to the media after the Argentine was suspended for two games by Chelsea and said:
"We have already spoken about this over the last few days. These were comments he made with no intention of causing problems at Chelsea. He is the captain, one of the leaders of the team. He has shown his best side on the pitch this season. He only spoke about a city [Madrid]. Then there were many interviews in a short space of time where he talked about his future."
Enzo Fernandez joined Chelsea in 2023 after the FIFA World Cup heroics in Qatar.
