Liverpool have agreed deals to bring Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper into Andoni Iraola’s backroom staff at Anfield. Both coaches previously worked with Iraola at Bournemouth and will now follow him to Liverpool as first-team coaches.
Pablo de la Torre has also joined Liverpool as an assistant coach, marking the fourth time he has worked under Andoni Iraola at different clubs.
Tom Webber, another coach with prior experience under Iraola at Bournemouth, will also arrive at Anfield as a first-team tactical coach. Webber spent over a decade in performance analysis at the South Coast club before making the move.
Their arrivals come amid a wider reshuffle of the Reds’ coaching structure following Arne Slot’s departure. Sipke Hulshoff, Ruben Peeters and Giovanni van Bronckhorst have all left their roles, while first-team tactical analyst Roderick van der Ham also confirmed his exit.
Hulshoff and Peeters had joined Liverpool as part of Slot’s setup in 2024 and were involved in a successful debut season that delivered the Premier League title. The changes mark a significant reset of Liverpool’s backroom staff ahead of the new campaign under Iraola.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been reappointed as Feyenoord head coach on a two-year deal, with an option for a further year. He replaces Robin van Persie, who was dismissed after 16 months in charge.
Van Bronckhorst will begin the new season working alongside Sipke Hulshoff, who has been named as his assistant. Hulshoff, also a former Feyenoord staff member, has signed a two-year contract with an option for an additional year.
Hulshoff previously worked in Feyenoord’s academy, served as an assistant with the Netherlands national team, and was part of the coaching staff during Feyenoord’s 2022–23 Eredivisie title win and their KNVB Cup triumph the following year. He recently left his role at Liverpool, where he worked closely with Van Bronckhorst.
Technical Director Devy Rigaux said: ‘The partnership between Van Bronckhorst and Hulshoff, which was further developed and strengthened in England, provides Feyenoord with a complementary coaching duo that combines international experience, a winning mentality and in-depth knowledge of the club. We are therefore delighted to welcome them both back to Rotterdam.”
Sipke Hulshoff took to social media to express his excitement. Hulshoff posted on his Instagram page: “After two fantastic years at Liverpool FC, I’ve now embarked on a wonderful new challenge at Feyenoord Rotterdam.”
