Arsenal Women have confirmed the signing of England international midfielder Georgia Stanway from Bayern Munich. (Don’t forget to subscribe to our free weekly Arsenal Women Newsletter where we broke the news of Arsenal’s interest in the player back in December). Our understanding is that this is a three year deal with an option for a further year.
The Gunners tried to sign the 27-year-old last summer but Bayern would not entertain a sale for the former Manchester City player, who joined the German giants in 2022 and won four Bundesliga titles and two DFB-Pokal Frauens. Stanway has been a first choice pick in the England midfield for many years now and was an integral part of the Lionesses sides that won the Euros in 2022 and 2025 and reached the World Cup Final in 2023. She was recently made an MBE.
Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley, said: ‘We’re delighted to bring Georgia to Arsenal. Georgia is among the best midfielders in the world with a proven track record of success at club and international level. She brings strong leadership, character and competitiveness and I know our supporters will enjoy watching her play in red and white.’
Head Coach Renée Slegers said: ‘Georgia is a brilliant midfielder and we’re thrilled that she is an Arsenal player. She will add a new dimension to our midfield, bringing experience and adding to our winning mentality. We look forward to getting down to work in pre-season ahead of a big campaign ahead.’
Stanway will wear the number 4 shirt at Arsenal.
