Georgia Stanway: The story so far

Georgia Stanway became our first signing of the 2026/27 summer transfer window, and the England midfielder has packed plenty into her illustrious career so far.

The 27-year-old, who was born in Barrow-in-Furness in 1999, grew up supporting Newcastle United and idolising Alan Shearer, and it would be at the club where he won the Premier League title that her career would begin - Blackburn Rovers. Georgia came through the academy there before moving to Manchester City in 2015.

She would go on to make over 100 appearances for City, winning one Women’s Super League, three FA Cups and three League Cups in the process, also earning a place in the 2018 Champions League Team of the Season. Individual honours came her way when she was crowned PFA Young Player of the Year in 2019, while she was was nominated for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year three years earlier.

At international level, she has helped England to win back-to-back European Championships, and made a huge impact in the first of those successes in 2022 when she scored against Norway as well as bagging the winner against Spain.
