Man City are not close to signing Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Madrid-based publication Marca had reported that Enzo Maresca’s side have been offered the France international, but speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said:
“At the moment on Manchester City, I don’t have a confirmation about any proposal or any advanced negotiation. It’s just something that Manchester City know that Real Madrid could open doors to the exit of Camavinga and Manchester City are opening to the possibility of signing one more midfielder after Elliot Anderson, but, at the moment, that’s the situation around Camavinga.”

“(It) depends on the player. We have to understand if Camavinga, at some point of the window, there are eight weeks of the summer transfer window, if at some point, decides to go and decides to open doors or not.”
Camavinga is not interested in leaving Real (yet)
While his club are seemingly open to offloading the 23-year-old, he isn’t keen on a move away from the Bernabeu.
As Romano points out, Camavinga’s stance could change before the end of the summer (with City, Manchester United and Liverpool among his suitors), but for now, he is very much focused on winning over new manager Jose Mourinho.
Who could Man City sign instead?
Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi does look like the primary candidate based on what Romano and others have said about the Cityzens’ interest in the Moroccan.
It is believed that the 18-year-old would cost €100m (£86m) if they want to wrap up a deal now, but Lille would accept €20m (£17m) less if Maresca’s side are willing to let him stay in France for one more season. It is a situation to keep a close eye on.
