Liverpool youngster negotiating exit – Reds will likely allow transfer

Liverpool‘s Stefan Bajcetic has struggled with injuries since 2022 and spent most of last season on the sidelines.

The Reds initially signed the midfielder for their academy in 2020 and promoted him to the first team in 2022.

He suffered a back injury in 2022 and was on the sidelines for 159 days. In September 2023, the Liverpool player picked up a calf injury, forcing him to stay 193 days away from the pitch.

The Premier League side then sent him on loan to Red Bull Salzburg in August 2024, but the 21-year-old struggled in Austria.

Liverpool cut short his stay in January 2025, only to sanction another loan move to UD Las Palmas. Bajcetic played 14 matches for the Spanish club but still had problems.

In May 2025, he underwent surgery for a hamstring problem and didn’t feature for the Merseyside club last season. The player recently posted a picture of himself training while the UK press claims he aims to start the pre-season with Andoni Iraola’s side.

Liverpool man has options in Spain

Stefan Bajcetic is on the front page of today’s Estadio Deportivo as he targets a return to Spain.

He’s not short of options in La Liga, where Sevilla FC, Rayo Vallecano, and Elche CF are his suitors.

Behind the scenes, the Spaniard is negotiating with Liverpool to secure an exit this summer.

The Andalusian club view the defensive midfielder as a low-cost option, while the report makes no mention of his price.

Journalist Ángel García, relayed by another report from Estadio Deportivo, claims Sevilla sporting director José Ignacio Navarro has the Reds man on his target list.

The Spaniard has an ‘express desire’ to return to his country, where he can also join Rayo Vallecano or Elche.

Our take: Liverpool could sanction sale

Stefan Bajcetic has less than a year left on his contract and is now valued at €4m by Transfermarkt.

A renewal seems unlikely at this stage. This summer would be Liverpool’s last chance to earn a decent fee, to avoid losing him for free in 2027.

Sevilla FC, Rayo Vallecano, and Elche CF can take advantage of this to sign the player for cheap.

A permanent exit would be beneficial for both Bajcetic and Andoni Iraola’s side.
