'Those close to Rogers...' - Ben Jacobs shares latest Morgan Rogers to Arsenal transfer update

Arsenal have received a boost in their bid to land Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers after information from those 'close' to the player, according to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs.

Arsenal's main mission in the summer transfer window is to find the right new signings who can boost the squad and ensure they make further progress next season, rather than failing to live up to expectations.

After winning the Premier League title and reaching the Champions League final, Mikel Arteta will not only want to retain the English top flight, but also go one step further in Europe's elite club competition and win the trophy for the first time in the north London outfit's history.

What happened to Liverpool last season, despite a record transfer spend, is a sign of what can happen if things don't go well, and while Arsenal don't need to do lots of business, finding the right players is key.

The Gunners had looked to be closing in on the signing of 16-year-old Leicester City sensation Jeremy Monga, but now the teenager looks set to join Manchester City instead after they hijacked the deal.

While Monga may not have been a player for the first team immediately, Arsenal will want to start making some progress in the market ahead of their return to pre-season this month.

Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers has emerged as Arsenal's top summer target for that position this summer, with the Gunners making good progress on the player side of the deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

However, if the north Londoners were hoping to sign the England international for £100m or less, they could be severely disappointed after recent reports claimed that Villa could demand £130m for their 23-year-old star.

Despite that, Jacobs has revealed that people around the player believe he would be allowed to leave Villa Park for a lower fee than that as interest grows from several clubs, in an update on talkSPORT.

He said: "Arsenal's top target is Morgan Rogers. They may well be put off by Villa's reported asking price of a British transfer record, but those close to Rogers still feel he might be able to leave for a little bit less.

"So, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United have looked, and even PSG as well. But as it stands, PSG are exploring other options."

Romano: Arteta Pushing for Second Premier League Deal

According to Romano, Arteta is personally pushing for Arsenal to complete another signing with big Premier League experience in Newcastle United's Bruno Guimaraes.

The Gunners are said to have already had a £55m approach for the Brazil international rejected, and they are considering making a higher offer to try and bring the 28-year-old to the Emirates.

One thing complicating matters is the fact that arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur are about to complete the signing of Sandro Tonali from the Magpies, who won't want to lose their two key midfielders in the same transfer window.

It remains to be seen if Guimaraes is not for sale at any price this summer, or if there is a fee that would tempt Newcastle to sell.
