Stefan Bajcetic’s Liverpool career has stalled badly on Merseyside, with the one-time midfield prodigy struggling to turn early promise into a sustained run of first-team football.

After breaking through in 2022, injury issues and inconsistent availability have kept him on the fringes, and his last meaningful involvement for the Reds has long been a distant memory

The Spaniard burst onto the scene under Jurgen Klopp in the 2022/23 season, making 22 appearances for the club and scoring against Aston Villa on Boxing Day to announce himself as one of the most exciting young talents in European football.

The future appeared bright until injuries began to derail his progress entirely.

Liverpool sent him to RB Salzburg at the start of the 2024-25 season, where he made 19 appearances before that spell was cut short, and he then moved on to Las Palmas for the second half of the campaign.

The Austrian side had agreed to end the deal early, with the Spanish midfielder heading to La Liga in search of more regular minutes.

But even with those moves, the development curve has not really recovered.

The latest reporting from Spain suggests that path may no longer run through Anfield.

Estadio Deportivo report that Liverpool are open to a sale, indicating the club will likely allow him to leave if the right proposal arrives.

They have pointed to strong interest from three La Liga clubs – Sevilla FC, Rayo Vallecano, and Elche CF are his suitors. It’s suggested that Bajcetic and his entourage are negotiating an exit from Liverpool.

It’s been over two years since Bajcetic last played for Liverpool.

After loan spells with Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas he underwent hamstring surgery and was expected to return in the second half of last campaign, but a setback in his recovery has left him continuing his rehab well into this summer.
