Jeremie Frimpong’s debut campaign at Liverpool ended up being one to forget.
Frimpong’s injury troubles have been a constant theme since he arrived at Liverpool.
His problems began on the opening day away to Bournemouth in August, when a hamstring issue forced him off around the hour mark and sidelined him for the next two fixtures
He made his comeback in early October, but fresh misfortune struck again causing his absence across late October, November and into early December.
After another determined push to regain fitness, a third hamstring setback followed almost immediately in the new year, this time in the Champions League tie against Qarabag at Anfield, where he was on the pitch for only a couple of minutes before being withdrawn and subsequently missing a further five games in league and cup action.
The difficult club season had knock-on effects at international level, with Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman ultimately deciding to leave Frimpong out of his 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup.
But there has been a more upbeat story in the Frimpong household.
His younger brother, Wesley Frimpong, who is pushing for the next step in his own career.
The 21‑year‑old right-back came through Bolton Wanderers’ academy setup before moving to Austria in 2024 to join LASK, where he featured for their amateur side and continued his development.
However, he was released by LASK at the end of the season. But now after leaving the Austrian club, Wesley has been handed an opportunity. He is training with Livingston in Scotland, with multiple English and Scottish sides understood to be monitoring his situation closely according to reports.
He put the story on his Instagram this week:
For now, it’s an opportunity to impress and earn his next contract, but given the promise he has shown and the growing interest around him, Jeremie might not be the only Frimpong making headlines for long.
