Marc-Andre ter Stegen set for Ajax medical after Barcelona agree loan

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will reportedly head to Amsterdam next week for a medical ahead of sealing a season-long loan with Ajax.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the two clubs are very close to finalizing a deal and Ter Stegen will jet out towards the end of next week to complete the transfer.

Barcelona are expected to pay the majority of his salary over the 2026-27 season, although MD say “the exact amount has not yet been disclosed.”

Ter Stegen also needs to pass a medical which comes after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The Germany went under the knife earlier this year after sustaining a serious hamstring injury that ruled him out of World Cup 2026.

The move will see Ter Stegen reunited with former Girona boss Michel after his brief spell on loan at Girona next season. The deal is believed to be a straight loan and will not include a purchase option.
