Arsenal are preparing to keep their Bruno Guimaraes pursuit alive after Newcastle United rejected their opening approach for the Brazil midfielder.
ESPN Brasil reported last week that Newcastle turned down a £55m offer from Arsenal for their captain.
The Sun now claims Mikel Arteta’s side have not given up and could return with a package worth around £60m.
Fabrizio Romano has also reported that Arsenal have discussed a fresh bid internally after Newcastle immediately rejected the first proposal.

Newcastle Stance Leaves Arsenal With Price Call
For Arsenal, this is now a test of price and conviction.

The Magpies have already sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, while Tonali is closing in on a major move to Tottenham. Losing Guimaraes as well would leave Newcastle short of another senior leader and Premier League-proven midfielder.
Arsenal’s interest makes football sense. Guimaraes would give Arteta control, aggression and top-level experience alongside Declan Rice. He also knows the league and would not need the same adaptation period as a younger signing from abroad.
The issue is Newcastle’s resolve. Guimaraes captains the club, plays for Brazil at the World Cup and remains central to Eddie Howe’s midfield.
Arsenal’s next offer should show whether this is a serious statement chase or one part of a wider midfield shortlist.
