£49m Chelsea star will be open to a Liverpool move

Liverpool transfer news

Pedro Neto to Liverpool transfer talk gathers pace as Chelsea winger signals Anfield openness

Pedro Neto to Liverpool: The Anfield transfer radar has locked onto a familiar face. Forget the usual links to unproven teenagers from South America or the latest Bundesliga flavour of the month. This time, it is Pedro Neto. The 26-year-old Chelsea winger is right at the centre of the current Merseyside gossip mill. According to Anfield Index journalist Dave Davis on The Transfer Show, Neto would jump at the chance to join Liverpool this summer if the opportunity came up.

Contact has already been made. Liverpool officials have reportedly touched base with Jorge Mendes, the super-agent who manages Neto’s career. It makes sense. FSG are desperate for multiple wide additions right now. Mohamed Salah’s departure at the end of last season left a massive hole in the squad, and the recruitment team is feeling the pressure. Primary target Yan Diomande chose PSG instead, and Bradley Barcola is completely out of reach. Neto is a genuine, proven Premier League alternative.

The numbers behind the noise

On paper, his raw stats from the 2025/26 campaign look quite ordinary. Neto made 34 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, scoring five goals and creating six assists. Safe. Standard. But the raw data misses the real story here. Look at his underlying metrics. Neto’s cross expected threat sits in the 95th percentile among Premier League players. His cross-value-added ranks in the 93rd percentile. He creates chaos in wide areas. He also bagged a brilliant FA Cup hat-trick against Hull City back in February 2026, and he played his part in Portugal’s run to the knockout stages at the World Cup in the United States this summer.

Money is the obvious hurdle. FotMob currently values the winger at around €57.4 million, which translates to roughly £49 million. Chelsea shelled out just over £50 million to buy him from Wolves back in August 2024, so the Stamford Bridge board will definitely want to recoup that initial investment. Probably more.

Prising him away from London will not be a walk in the park. Neto has scored 19 goals in 103 appearances for Chelsea, and they value his directness. His contract runs all the way until 2030, giving Chelsea total control over the negotiation table. But there is a catch. The Blues missed out on European football for the upcoming season. Financial pressure is mounting, and player sales are the quickest way to balance the books. Neto is one of the few high-value assets they could actually sacrifice.

A deal this summer still feels incredibly complicated. Chelsea do not want to lose him, even if the player himself likes the idea of a fresh start under the Anfield lights.
