Liverpool’s search for its next signing has stalled somewhat, although the Reds are receiving more encouragement in the race for one World Cup star.

With Yan Diomande having chosen Paris Saint-Germain over a move to Anfield this summer, Liverpool will have to look at alternative options as it looks for a replacement for Mohamed Salah.

One name does currently stand out at the moment, although Bradley Barcola does present his own difficulties, with PSG seemingly not too willing to let him go - although the latest reports suggest a move away from the French capital is not yet out of the question.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Bradley Barcola (PSG)

Liverpool has Bradley Barcola 'top of its list', according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Paris Saint-Germain winger is described as a "serious target" for the Reds after Barcola left the door open on a potential transfer yesterday.

Romano though does offer a caveat, saying a move to Anfield "depends financially on what Liverpool can do to reach an agreement with PSG." Reports this week have suggested that PSG would be looking for more than the $155 million (£116M) paid by Manchester City for Elliot Anderson.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.

Liverpool.com says: As attractive a prospect as Barcola is, Liverpool would need PSG to come down a fair way on that price. It's hard to see how the Reds could do that sort of deal, and still be able to address some of the areas in the squad.

If Barcola pushes for a move though, that might help, and he doesn't sound all that convinced about staying in Paris. Hopefully he doesn't have his head turned by Arsenal in the meantime.

Jules Kounde (Barcelona)

Barcelona is open to selling Jules Kounde this summer, with Liverpool among those keeping a close eye on the defender, according to Spanish outlet SPORT.

It's claimed that the 27-year-old will be available for around $74 million (€65M), with Barca prepared to entertain offers if suitable proposals arrive.

Liverpool is said to be monitoring developments, while Chelsea is also claimed to be interested, having previously missed out on his signing.

Liverpool.com says: Even though he is a little older than the sort of signings Liverpool would usually make, Kounde is a player that would make a lot of sense for the Reds.

A right-back who can also play at center-back, he could be the ideal option to give Conor Bradley time to recover from his injury, while also providing some cover at the heart of the defense, which the Reds need after Ibrahima Konate's departure. If Barca is open to it, it's a deal that should be seriously considered at the very least.
