Defender gives green light to leave Chelsea exit – Blues need convincing

Inter Milan are working on a deal to sign Chelsea‘s Trevoh Chalobah this summer, after holding fresh talks.

The England international was a regular for Chelsea last season, playing 3,719 minutes from 47 matches.

He has made it to Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup but is yet to make an appearance.

Behind the scenes, the Serie A side are working on securing his services permanently.

Chelsea player favours Inter

The Blues are working on signing Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix. Last weekend, Sport Witness relayed news that his move to Stamford Bridge is expected to go through after the World Cup.

There’s also claims of Trevoh Chalobah moving in the opposite direction as part of the Lacroix deal.

Saturday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport relays that and states the Chelsea player would choose the Italian club.

The centre-back’s agent was in Milan for talks and the Nerazzurri have made progress, after taking advantage of the player’s willingness to join them. However, the two parties have not reached an agreement yet.

Inter Milan also have to agree terms with Chelsea and the ‘real crux of the deal’ has to do with the latter’s demand of €35m.

The Italian champions are hopeful of signing the player on favourable terms once they strike an agreement with him.

Gazzetta dello Sport now claim Como, who made bids for the 26-year-old, are no longer keen. The Chalobah deal turns out to be expensive for them and are focusing on other targets.

Inter Milan have closely followed Como’s pursuit of the Chelsea man and took advantage of his representative’s latest trip to Milan to hold fresh talks.

They have found out the Englishman would be happy to join them. He is now waiting for the Serie A winners to start negotiations with Xabi Alonso’s side.

More developments expected

Inter Milan would first work on finding an agreement in principle with Trevoh Chalobah. There’s unlikely to be any issue considering he has given a green light.

The Nerazzurri then have to convince Chelsea, who are requesting €35m.

Both Corriere and Gazzetta make no mention whether Inter Milan are willing to match it or the fee they intend to offer.
