Liverpool may get the chance to sign Hugo Larsson this summer, a year on from the Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder being linked with a move to Anfield.
The Reds still have plenty of work to do in the transfer window as Andoni Iraola prepares to work with his new squad for the first time, having been appointed as Arne Slot’s successor last month.
Victor Munoz became the Spaniard’s first signing in charge of the club, but subsequent attempts to make a second addition have proved fruitless so far, with primary target Yan Diomande having chosen Paris Saint-Germain over a move to Anfield should he leave RB Leipzig this summer.
Although a replacement for the legendary Mohamed Salah looks to be the priority at the moment, Liverpool does have other areas to address, including in midfield.
The Reds had issues in the center of the pitch during the 2025/26 campaign, despite Dominik Szoboszlai being voted as the club’s player of the season, with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch not reaching the heights they have previously shown.
With Curtis Jones being linked with an exit, and Harvey Elliott potentially getting a long-awaited permanent move, Liverpool will need to look at new options in midfield, and Larsson could be among those considered.

The 22-year-old was linked with a switch to Merseyside last year, with rumors continuing in recent months, and now according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool and others have just been given the green light to complete a transfer.
It’s claimed that Larsson will be allowed to leave Eintracht this summer, with initial approaches having already been made by clubs - although no specific teams are mentioned amid “growing interest” in the Swedish international.
Larsson was said to have been valued at around $62 million (€60M) when he was linked with Liverpool last year, although it’s possible that figure may have come down now. He is under contract until 2029 in Frankfurt.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
The former Malmo star made 34 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring two goals and adding three assists in the process.

Reviewing Larsson ahead of his move to Frankfurt, analyst Ben Mattinson - who now works as a scout for Italian side Como - pointed to his strength as a ball-carrier, underlining his “insane running power and stamina”.
“When giving the eye test on Larsson he’s very similar to [Jude] Bellingham stylistically and was initially my pick to replace Jude at Dortmund but he suits Frankfurt very well and they’re building a top team. Excited to see how he settles in,” Mattinson said of Larsson.
Liverpool.com says: Larsson may well be a name to keep an eye on this summer. It looks as though he is ready to make the step up in his career, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him moving to the Premier League, even if he doesn’t end up at Liverpool.
