Pep Lijnders has been described as “keen” to reunite with Jurgen Klopp if he is appointed as Germany’s new national manager.
Klopp has confirmed talks are underway with Germany after Julian Nagelsmann resigned following their round of 32 exit, with the ex-Reds boss declaring he has the energy to return to management.
There are not expected to be many hiccups on the way to striking a deal, which would mark Klopp’s return to management two years after leaving Liverpool.
And according to *the Times*‘ Paul Joyce, Lijnders “would be keen to join his backroom team if he takes the Germany job.”

Lijnders and Klopp worked together for almost nine years, with the former acting as the 59-year-old’s right-hand man during their shared time at Anfield.
The Dutchman had been expected to put himself in contention to take over at Liverpool after Klopp announced his exit, but he swiftly confirmed he would also be heading for the exit.
He was appointed Red Bull Salzburg manager in 2024, but he oversaw just 29 games before he was sacked, opening the door to join Pep Guardiola’s backroom staff for 2025/26.
But with Guardiola having left Man City after 10 years, Lijnders followed suit to leave him without a role heading into 2026/27.

Klopp’s other assistant Peter Krawietz, landed his first job since leaving Liverpool early last year, having joined RB Leipzig as their interim assistant manager.
It was only a short-term deal after the German club parted ways with Marco Rose, and no new role has since been made public.
And Liverpool’s former elite development coach Vitor Matos initially joined Lijnders at Salzburg but has since taken over at Championship club Swansea.
