Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to become the new Germany boss this summer, and his former assistant, Pep Lijnders, would be keen to reunite with him.
According to The Times, Lijnders would be keen to join up with Klopp again and move into an international coaching position. The Dutchman left Manchester City at the same time as Pep Guardiola this summer and is currently looking for his next role.
Klopp is the firm favorite to take over from Julian Nagelsmann, who resigned from his post earlier in the week after Germany was knocked out of the World Cup by Paraguay.
The former Bayern Munich coach came under fire in his homeland and stepped down, despite initially insisting that he would continue.
"Yes, I can confirm the talks," Klopp said on Magenta TV. "Things moved pretty quickly. Julian stepped down. The DFB are looking for a successor and they’re talking to me.
"I'm under contract with Red Bull. I’ve said I’m interested in the talks. They will be intensive because this isn’t only about Julian Nagelsmann.

"I also have to speak with Oliver Mintzlaff. He’s my employer. We’ve already touched on a few things. I assume he won’t stand in the way. I’ve been there for 19 months. It was an intense time."
Should he take over, which seems likely at this stage, Klopp's first game is set to be a UEFA Nations League tie with the Netherlands, where he could reunite with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch.
However, there is still work to be done before the move is confirmed. The Red Bull group is not likely to stand in his way but an exit from that position would have to be traversed.
"Regarding the appointment of a new coach, the DFB leadership will now seek talks with Jurgen Klopp," the German FA said in a statement on Friday. "He has already signaled his general willingness to take on the position."

"I've done a lot of thinking in the days since our elimination and have consulted with trusted individuals both personally and within the federation," Nagelsmann explained.
"The decision was anything but easy for me. My top priority has always been the team's success. After such a bitter disappointment, they deserve the chance for a fresh start.
"I want to thank my coaching staff, the support team, and everyone at the federation who supported us, especially the players with whom I had the privilege of working."
