Arsenal and Besiktas have agreed a €20million (£17.1m) deal for the transfer of Leandro Trossard. The Gunners star is currently representing Belgium at the World Cup and could now depart the Emirates after entering the final year of his contract.

Personal terms are still being finalised with Trossard set to earn a salary of £7.7m. The transfer fee will comprise £15.4m up front, with the remaining £1.7m available as add-ons, reports the Athletic.

Trossard only agreed a new deal with Arsenal in August 2025. However, it did not extend his stay beyond his previous terms and instead granted him a pay rise.

Trossard played an influential role as Arsenal claimed the Premier League title in 2025/26, making 50 appearances across all competitions as they also reached the Champions League final. He scored eight goals and provided 11 assists.

The Belgian ace joined the club from Brighton in a £27m deal in January 2023 and made 174 appearances. He scored an 83rd-minute winner against West Ham in May in a decisive moment in the title battle with Manchester City, which extended the north London side's advantage to five points.

Despite his importance, Trossard has regularly been linked with moves away from the club over the last 12 months. Speaking in November, Mikel Arteta revealed that the veteran was forbidden from leaving the Emirates last summer.

"For me it was forbidden for him to leave. No chance," he said. "I know the player that he is, and surrounded with the players that we have, he’s a player that is going to make a difference for us."

But the deal with Besiktas appears to be too good to turn down, with the possibility of Trossard departing for free at the end of next season. For now, Trossard continues at the World Cup with Belgium in the last 16 of the tournament, with a move unlikely to progress until his return.

The Red Devils face the United States after a comeback victory against Senegal in which Trossard provided a crucial assist. The 31-year-old has started every game for his nation and scored twice against New Zealand.
