It's an open secret that Manchester United are targeting a midfielder this summer.
They were outbid in the end for Mateus Fernandes, who headed to Tottenham Hotspur, before the same happened in the Elliot Anderson race with Manchester City swooping in.
Now, their focus has shifted towards Alex Scott. The Bournemouth star, like Fernandes and Anderson, is on the radar of several top clubs in the Premier League, who are expected to launch their move.

Scott is the latest name to be linked with a top move in the Premier League. Whether it's Arsenal or Man United who win the race for his signature is remains the big question, however.
Man Utd set to launch Scott move after Arsenal rejection
As reported by Ben Jacobs, Man United are now set to make their move for Scott, testing Bournemouth's resolve.
The Cherries have already told Arsenal's Andrea Berta that they don't want to sell, but that is not set to stop the Red Devils from pushing ahead with a move of their own.
"Manchester United expected to explore a move. Scott also on Arsenal’s radar.
"Andrea Berta already made an approach and was told Bournemouth don’t want to sell. Scott also appreciated by Manchester City and Chelsea. Clubs set to test Bournemouth’s resolve in the coming days."
Whether Bournemouth's stance lasts the test of time remains to be seen. United are certainly hoping that it doesn't.
How Scott can make up for Man Utd's Fernandes failure
Missing out on Fernandes was a blow for those at Old Trafford, but that can quickly become a blessing in disguise if Scott comes through the door instead.
Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott
The 22-year-old, dubbed "amazing" by Andoni Iraola, is arguably a more talented option than Fernandes and could cost a cheaper price if Bournemouth fail to agree a new deal.
PL 25/26 Scott Fernandes
Minutes 2,589 3,024
Pass accuracy 84.9% 87.5%
Tackles 60 103
Recoveries 195 182
Successful dribbles 29 28
The numbers highlight Scott's ability out of possession more than anything and that would hand Kobbie Mainoo the all-important license to do what he's best at in possession. Add Ederson into that and United would have an excellent midfield pivot.
