Opinion: PL rivals threaten Arsenal move for 'very complete' star - Berta must act now

Arsenal are looking to strengthen their midfield this summer.

The Gunners are interested in Bournemouth star Alex Scott. They have already had an enquiry rejected for the former England youth international.

Arsenal face competition from Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur for his signature.

United have now identified Scott as the ideal target for their midfield. The Red Devils may now be ready to make a formal move for him.

Arsenal must act fast to avoid losing Scott to Man United

Described as a ‘ very complete player‘ by former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, Scott was one of the Premier League’s breakout stars last term. He was nominated for the Young Player of the Year award.

He ranked higher than most central midfielders across Europe’s top seven leagues for duels won, possessions won and progressive carries.

However, there is room for improvement in his passing, and that should come with experience.

Arsenal must now act swiftly to win the race for the former Bristol City star, with United emerging as serious contenders for his signature.

The Red Devils are focused on signing midfielders with ‘the mobility and physicality to get around the pitch’. Scott is said to ‘tick all those boxes’.

Arsenal have already missed out on highly rated youngster Jeremy Monga to Manchester City. Losing another target to a direct rival would not reflect well on sporting director Andrea Berta.

While the north London side are also keen on Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes, they should prioritise a move for Scott instead.

Although Scott would cost more, he is younger and would likely demand lower wages than the Brazilian.

Bournemouth are reluctant to sell the England-born midfielder, but could change their stance if they receive a bid in the region of £80 million.
