He wants out: Nottingham Forest eyeing 'incredible' Liverpool star as Glasner's first signing - …

Nottingham Forest are eyeing a move to sign Liverpool star Curtis Jones as their replacement for Elliot Anderson, according to TEAMtalk.

The Tricky Trees surprised the footballing world last week after sacking Vitor Pereira just two minutes before a break-clause expired, before agreeing a deal to appoint ex-Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner to take over as his replacement.

The club then confirmed the club-record £116m sale of Anderson to Manchester City, and it has now emerged that they have identified a familiar face as the man they want to replace him with.

Jones, who has been described as 'incredible', has been tipped to leave Anfield this summer after entering the final year of his contract with his boyhood club.

Inter Milan have been the most interested side, tabling an offer that was rejected by the Reds, while they have already agreed personal terms with the England international too.

However, there is a considerable gap in valuation between the two sides currently, and Forest are now ready to enter the race to try and convince the 25-year-old to stay in the Premier League with them.

Jones is said to be keen to leave Liverpool after failing to agree terms on a new contract, and Forest want to make a statement in the window after narrowly avoiding relegation last season and then bringing in the Conference League-winning manager.

Inter have made it clear they have no intention of matching Liverpool's £35-40m valuation for Jones, which leaves the door open for Forest to enter the conversation. But they may have to convince Jones it's the right move for him, as he is currently set on joining the Serie A side.

Jones Would Be a Coup for Nottingham Forest

Curtis Jones

Jones has got experience at the very highest level, having played for England and in the Champions League a number of times, while he also has a Premier League winner's medal.

That explains why he would want to join another club competing at that level, like Inter Milan, but if they don't want to pay up then there isn't much he can do.

Glasner has a fine track record of developing young talents and getting his midfielders playing well in his system, as well as winning trophies. Jones and Anderson are not too dissimilar in style, and Glasner would love a technician in his midfield. He'd be guaranteed to play regularly, and it may be the solution that suits everyone.
