Arsenal have agreed a deal to sell Leandro Trossard to Besiktas for €20million (£17.1m) amid their plans to splash the cash on a new left-sided attacker for the 2026-27 campaign.

There is a determination from those within the Arsenal hiearachy to build on the success that Mikel Arteta oversaw last season after guiding the team to a first Premier League title in more than 20 years and the Champions League final, where the Gunners were beaten on penalties by Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest.

A major aspect of plans to strengthen the squad is levelling up the left attacking berth with Arsenal being strongly linked to Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola of PSG, both of whom would command substantial transfer fees.

And with an outgoing in that area a necessity to facilitate any deal of that magnitude, fresh developments regarding Trossard may be significant.

The Athletic report that a deal has been agreed with Besiktas for the services of the Belgium international, who joined Arsenal back in January 2023.

Trossard has since established himself as a key member of Arteta's squad and played a critical role in Arsenal's first Premier League triumph since 2004, registering six goals and six assists across 31 matches including the pivotal winner against West Ham in May.

Although the 31-year-old has grown into a popular figure in north London, his prospective departure — which is unlikely to develop further until after the World Cup with personal terms still being agreed — would all but signal Arsenal's intention to advance their pursuit of either Rogers or Barcola.

It has been suggested that Aston Villa would demand a British record £130m in order to even contemplate selling Rogers, who enjoyed a stellar 2025-26 campaign.

Barcola, too, would likely command a similar figure amid claims this week that the winger is valued by PSG in excess of the £116m that Manchester City have paid to acquire Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool are also avid admirers of the Frenchman, who has two years left to run on his contract in Paris. Talks over an extension have stalled, though.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are now poised to miss out on the capture of the exciting Leicester City prodigy, Jeremy Monga, with a £12.5m move to Manchester City now on the cusp of completion.
