Arsenal could accelerate pursuit of 22-goal star to replace 31yo, available for £34m - opinion

Arsenal could accelerate their pursuit of Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, with Leandro Trossard likely to join Besiktas in the near future.

The Gunners have recently agreed on a £17 million deal with Besiktas for Trossard.

The Belgian is currently at the World Cup and will negotiate personal terms with the Turkish heavyweights on his return from the tournament.

It certainly looks like Trossard may have played his final game for the club, and the hierarchy could seek a like-for-like replacement for the 31-year-old.

The Gunners explored a deal for Tzolis earlier last month, and we believe they could accelerate their pursuit of the Greek with Trossard poised to leave.

The 24-year-old had a brilliant 2025/26 campaign with Brugge in Belgium. He registered a staggering 24 goals and 29 assists from 52 appearances.

Tzolis predominantly played as a left-sided winger and caught the eye with his dribbling, chance creation as well as his finishing in and outside the box.

He is comfortable shooting with either foot and has likewise impressed with his distribution.

The Belgian Pro League is several levels below the Premier League, but Tzolis did prove his credentials in the Champions League last term, with goal contributions against Barcelona, Atalanta and Atletico.

The former Norwich City man is reportedly available at £34m. For that price, the Gunners could be prepared to pursue a deal and back his potential.

Irrespective of Tzolis’ pursuit, Arsenal are likely to sign a marquee left winger as well.

Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola are the prime targets. One of them could end up at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

With both players valued at well over £100m, a deal won’t be easy to secure, and Arsenal may well take their time to try and negotiate a suitable agreement.

We feel Gabriel Martinelli could be shown the exit door if a marquee left winger is recruited.

The Brazilian has entered the last year of his contract, but there is a 12-month extension clause.

If Martinelli does not accept a new deal with a reduced role, he could be sold this summer.
