Liverpool reportedly has been offered the chance to sign Barcelona defender Jules Kounde this summer, with the 27-year-old currently starring for France at the World Cup.

Kounde, who is capable of playing at center-back and at right-back, could be a useful profile for the Reds at the right price. According to TeamTalk, the former Sevilla man has been put forward as an option for Liverpool.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also mentioned as possible destinations for Kounde, who could be on the move in the next few weeks. A $57 million (£43 million) has been touted.

Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong are the two right-sided full-back options that Liverpool currently has, but the former is currently injured and the latter is yet to fully convince.

Joe Gomez can fit into both center-back and right-back roles but his injury history is not perfect. He might also be needed alongside Virgil van Dijk more often next term.

After arriving from Rennes, Jeremy Jacquet is another defensive option. Giovanni Leoni, meanwhile, is coming back from a long-term injury and is inexperienced at the top level.

Adding extra depth in the Liverpool attack has to be priority number one. Replacing Ibrahima Konate, who signed for Real Madrid a few weeks ago, should be an area of focus too.

"For me, it's much easier to continue in the Premier League in terms of knowing the squad," Andoni Iraola said when he arrived to take over from Arne Slot.

"We've analyzed Liverpool a lot — possible weaknesses, the strengths. I think we have a very good squad. I think there is still work to do, like normally in every club in this moment of the season.

"But right now, for me the thing is to value especially the players that we have right now in the squad.

"For me, and I will tell them, [they] are all new signings. For me, you are all new signings and I think we have a lot of quality in our squad, and [I'm] really looking forward to working with them.

"I only had, I think, Milos in the squad before — I know a couple, I've been talking to a couple before — but it will be lovely also to play again with Milos, try to improve him, try to help him in his development. Yeah, definitely looking forward to it."

Kounde's France toiled for large spells against Paraguay in the last-16 clash between the sides at the World Cup. Kylian Mbappe's penalty, though, proved the difference in the end, booking a quarter-final game against Morocco.
