Newcastle are determined to hold on to Bruno Guimaraes despite Arsenal's growing interest in the Brazilian midfielder, with the Tyneside club regarding his abilities as simply 'priceless'. The Magpies have already rebuffed a verbal approach for their skipper, though Guimaraes' representatives are understood to have held talks with both clubs.
Manager Eddie Howe is adamant about retaining his prized asset, and Newcastle have made their stance abundantly clear — he is not for sale. While there may be lingering unease over the 28-year-old's camp engaging in transfer discussions, the club intend to table a fresh contract to their star man.
However, Newcastle aren't banking solely on that outcome, according to Mail Online, and are drawing up contingency plans having already offloaded Sandro Tonali to Tottenham in a £100million deal earlier this summer.

Discussions are said to have taken place regarding Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha, who is also on Manchester United's radar. The German outfit have placed a hefty asking price of over £100m on the midfielder, who counts Red Devils director of football Jason Wilcox among his admirers - having worked closely with Nmecha during his 14-year stint at Manchester City's academy.
Monaco's Lamine Camara had also been on Newcastle's wishlist, though that particular pursuit now appears to have stalled. With the sales of both Tonali and Anthony Gordon already completed this summer, Newcastle should have considerable funds at their disposal.
Guimaraes signed for Newcastle in January 2022, despite Arsenal showing interest. The Brazilian's transfer represented the second occasion the Gunners had been pipped to his signature, after Lyon secured his services two years prior.

The Magpies' £40m deal demonstrated more decisive action, something that resonated with the player's representatives during a World Cup year.
"Newcastle arrived and they got serious. Bruno couldn't wait another six months to decide his future in a World Cup year," he said.
Guimaraes has featured 195 times since his arrival at St James' Park and played a crucial role as Newcastle claimed their first major domestic silverware in 70 years by securing the Carabao Cup. The midfielder is regarded as one of Tyneside's most committed figures on the pitch.
Arsenal are seeking reinforcements in other areas. One of their key targets is to bolster the left flank of their attack.
