Liverpool still have plenty of work to do in the transfer window this summer. Since the Reds signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna last month, activity on incomings and outgoings has somewhat stalled.
Andoni Iraola's side moved quickly to secure the Spanish winger, who is currently on duty with Spain at the World Cup. French defender Jeremy Jacquet has also officially joined the Reds, after he signed in January from Rennes for a deal worth around £60m.
However, there's no getting around that Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande's decision to join Paris Saint-Germain over the Reds has hit their transfer plans hard. Today's news sees Real Madrid make a call on a long-term Reds target while former boss Jurgen Klopp breaks his silence on his next role.
Klopp confirms talks
Klopp says he doesn't expect Red Bull to stand in his way of becoming the next Germany coach after confirming talks are underway to replace Julian Nagelsmann.
Nagelsmann immediately stepped down from his position after Germany were knocked out of the World Cup on penalties by Paraguay on Monday.
The ex-Reds manager, who now works as Red Bull's global head of soccer, has been at the World Cup as an analyst for German broadcaster Magenta. Speaking on TV, he claimed that his current employers would not stand in the way of his desire to manage his country.
“Yes, I can confirm the talks," Klopp told Magenta. "Things moved pretty quickly. Julian stepped down. The DFB (German FA) are looking for a successor. And they’re talking to me.
“What needs to happen now? Time. I’m under contract with Red Bull. I’ve said I’m interested in the talks. They will be intensive because this isn’t only about Julian Nagelsmann.

"I have an existing contract with Red Bull. I've said many times how much I enjoy this job. As a person, I usually honour contracts. But I've also made it clear that I'm interested in talks with the DFB.
“I also have to speak with (Red Bull CEO) Oliver Mintzlaff. He’s my employer. We’ve already touched on a few things. I assume he won’t stand in the way. I’ve been there for 19 months. It was an intense time. I’m ready. Once the talks begin, your mind starts racing. We have to change things fundamentally.
"There will have to be intensive discussions, because, of course, the problems we currently have cannot be pinned only on Julian Nagelsmann. Julian is an exceptional coach, and he will be able to prove that time and again throughout his coaching career."
Real Madrid make call on transfer
It looks likely that Aurelien Tchouameni will stay at Madrid this summer. The combative midfielder has been linked with a move to Liverpool for some time amid ongoing claims he could leave Los Blancos. As far back as 2022, former Reds boss Klopp reportedly wanted to bring the Frenchman to Anfield. Last month, it was reported, via TEAMtalk , that Liverpool believed they could land the player this summer.

However, new Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, who is in his second spell at Los Blancos, has reportedly put the brakes on any move. TEAMtalk claims that, despite interest from Liverpool and Man Utd, Tchouameni will stay at Madrid.
The report claims that the 26-year-old, who has been an integral part of Madrid's success in recent years, "will be given the opportunity to establish himself as a guaranteed starter next season."
