Attacker BUZZING after joining Chelsea–England star in talks over£40M Chelsea transfer deal–Huge statement released

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Trevoh Chalobah and Manaka Matsukubo that you may have missed…

Real Madrid have issued an official statement categorically denying reports linking the club with a move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, insisting they have neither held negotiations nor have any intention of pursuing the Argentina international.

The Spanish giants released the unusually direct statement following widespread speculation that they were closing in on a deal for the 25-year-old, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabéu in recent months.

In the statement, Real Madrid made clear that no direct or indirect contact had been made regarding Fernandez’s potential transfer

The club stated: “In light of the reports and statements that have appeared in recent days regarding an alleged interest from Real Madrid CF in the player Enzo Fernandez, the club wishes to state that it has not made any effort, either direct or indirect, to sign the aforementioned player and, likewise, has no intention of undertaking such an operation.

“Real Madrid wishes to express its utmost respect for Enzo Fernandez, a great footballer whose career and quality are widely known, as well as for Chelsea FC, a club with which it maintains an excellent institutional relationship.

“Precisely because of the respect that an entity like CHELSEA FC deserves and because of the principles of institutional loyalty that have always governed the actions of Real Madrid, the club considers it necessary to categorically deny speculations that are unfounded and do not correspond to reality.

“Real Madrid regrets that, despite the clarity of the facts and the lack of any action on the part of the club, information continues to be disseminated that does not correspond to reality and that only contributes to generating confusion among fans and unnecessarily harming the entities and people involved.”

The statement comes after renewed reports in Spain suggested Real Madrid were exploring a move for the World Cup-winning midfielder, who has been one of Chelsea’s key players since arriving from Benfica in a then British-record transfer in January 2023.

Fernandez remains under a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea have consistently maintained that the Argentine is a central figure in their long-term project.

CHELSEA have made no indication they are prepared to entertain offers for the midfielder despite continued transfer speculation linking him with several European heavyweights.

Real Madrid’s decision to publicly address the rumours is a rare move and appears designed to draw a line under speculation surrounding the player, FOR NOW.

ATTACKER EXCITED AFTER JOINING

Manaka Matsukubo says she is “so excited” to begin the next chapter of her career after completing a five-year move to Chelsea, with the Japanese forward becoming the latest addition to the Women’s Super League champions.

The 22-year-old joins the Blues from North Carolina Courage after establishing herself as one of the brightest young attacking talents in the National Women’s Soccer League. Capable of playing as a striker, second forward or out wide, Matsukubo arrives in west London with a growing reputation for her technical ability, intelligent movement and eye for goal.

Speaking after her CHELSEA move was confirmed, Matsukubo expressed her delight at joining one of Europe’s leading clubs: ‘I’m so excited to be joining Chelsea, a club with a lot of history,’ said Matsukubo.

‘As a small child, I followed Chelsea because it is a club everyone in the world knows about.

‘The club has a strong history of winning trophies and has done so well at the top of the game, so I couldn’t pass up this opportunity, and I want to help continue this club’s tradition of winning trophies for years to come.’

The Japan international is widely regarded as one of the country’s most promising young players, combining pace, creativity and composure in the final third. Her versatility is expected to give Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor additional tactical options throughout what promises to be another demanding campaign.

Chelsea have continued to invest in emerging talent while maintaining a squad filled with experienced internationals, a strategy that has helped establish the club among the elite sides in European women’s football. Matsukubo’s signing reflects that long-term vision, with the forward expected to continue her development alongside some of the game’s biggest names.

Although the Women’s Super League presents a different challenge from both Japan and the United States, Matsukubo has already shown an ability to adapt quickly to new environments. Chelsea will hope that experience allows her to make a smooth transition to English football as she looks to establish herself at Stamford Bridge.

Supporters will now be eager to see the young attacker in blue as preparations continue for the new season, with expectations remaining high after another successful campaign.

CHELSEA have not simply signed a talented young forward—they have added another dimension to an already formidable attack.

Matsukubo’s greatest asset is her intelligence without the ball. She consistently finds spaces between defenders, times her runs well and creates passing lanes that can open compact defences. Against teams that sit deep against Chelsea, that movement could prove invaluable.

She also possesses the technical quality to thrive in Sonia Bompastor’s fluid attacking system. Comfortable receiving possession in tight areas, she links play effectively before accelerating into dangerous positions.

Rather than relying solely on pace or physicality, Matsukubo combines quick decision-making with excellent close control, making her difficult to defend against.

Her versatility could become one of Chelsea’s biggest strengths over the course of a long season. Whether deployed as a central striker, supporting forward or wide attacker, she offers tactical flexibility that allows Chelsea to rotate their frontline without losing attacking quality.

At just 22 years old, there is also considerable room for growth. Surrounded by experienced internationals and competing in one of Europe’s strongest leagues, Matsukubo enters an ideal environment to continue her development.

While adapting to the physicality and intensity of English football may take time, the qualities she already possesses suggest she has the potential to become an important player for CHELSEA.

If she settles quickly, Chelsea may have secured one of the most exciting young attacking talents in world football—one capable of contributing immediately while also becoming a cornerstone of the club’s future

CHALOBAH EYES INTER MOVE

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has reportedly emerged as a target for Inter Milan, with reports suggesting the England centre-back is open to a move to Serie A this summer as the Italian giants look to strengthen their defensive options.

According to reports in Italy and England, Chalobah has decided he would welcome the opportunity to join Inter, with his representatives understood to have begun discussions over personal terms. However, neither Chelsea nor Inter Milan have publicly commented on the speculation, and no agreement between the clubs has been confirmed.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a significant role during the latter stages of Chelsea’s campaign after fighting his way back into the first-team picture. Having initially faced an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge, Chalobah impressed with a series of composed defensive performances, demonstrating his versatility by operating both in a back four and a back three.

Despite re-establishing himself under Chelsea’s coaching staff, speculation over his long-term future has persisted throughout the summer transfer window. Inter are believed to be monitoring the defender as they seek experienced reinforcements capable of fitting seamlessly into Simone Inzaghi’s tactical system.

Chalobah, a product of CHELSEA‘s academy, has made more than 80 senior appearances for the Blues since breaking into the first team after loan spells with Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and Lorient. His ability to play as a central defender, right-sided centre-back or defensive midfielder has made him a valuable squad member throughout his time in west London.

Chelsea, meanwhile, continue to reshape their squad ahead of the new campaign. The club have invested heavily in younger talent in recent transfer windows while remaining mindful of financial regulations, meaning player sales are expected to form part of their summer business should suitable offers arrive.

Inter have established a reputation for recruiting Premier League talent in recent seasons and view Chalobah as a player who combines top-level experience with room for further development. Should negotiations progress, discussions between the clubs would still be required before any transfer could be completed.

For now, the reports remain at an early stage, with the defender’s future expected to become clearer as the transfer window develops.

A move to Inter Milan could represent an ideal opportunity for Trevoh Chalobah

While he has proven himself capable of performing for CHELSEA, opportunities to establish himself as an undisputed first-choice defender have often been interrupted by managerial changes, injuries and intense competition for places. At Inter, he could arrive with the chance to become a key component of one of Europe’s most tactically disciplined defensive units.

Serie A has long been regarded as one of the world’s premier leagues for defenders. The emphasis on positioning, organisation and tactical awareness could help Chalobah further refine his game while exposing him to a different footballing culture.

Inter’s system could also suit his strengths. Comfortable bringing the ball out from the back and experienced in both a three-man and four-man defence, Chalobah possesses the versatility modern coaches demand.

His composure in possession and ability to defend one-on-one would make him a natural fit if Inter continue to utilise a back-three structure.

There is, of course, no guarantee that a move would materialise or that he would immediately secure a starting place. However, if the reported interest develops into a formal transfer, Chalobah would have the opportunity to compete for major honours, experience Champions League football regularly and test himself in one of Europe’s most historic leagues.

For a player entering the prime years of his career, it could be the fresh challenge needed to elevate his game to another level.
