Everton and Chelsea have now agreed a deal over Tyrique George.

The ECHO reported on Saturday that a move was advancing, with Everton growing optimistic the 20-year-old could be announced as their latest summer signing in the coming week.

That now looks likely, with the clubs having agreed a £24m package for the winger.

Everton will pay an initial £18m with £6m of add-ons. Those add-ons are dependent on the success of George and the Blues. A 15% sell-on clause has also been inserted into the deal.

Barring any late hitches, the England Under-21 international is now set to become Everton’s third summer signing.

The club was obliged to make the loan deal of Merlin Rohl from Freiburg permanent for a fee of £18m once they avoided relegation from the Premier League.

A deal for Hayden Hackney was then completed last week, with the Blues paying Middlesbrough an initial £16.5m in a deal that could rise to just under £25m if, like with George, a number of add-ons are met.

George spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton from Stamford Bridge. While he started just one of his 11 appearances, he made a positive impression at Finch Farm and did well in several cameos.

He impressed David Moyes and the ECHO reported back in May that the Blues were willing to explore a permanent move if Chelsea were open to negotiating the terms initially laid out as an option-to-buy in the loan agreement, which has proven to be the case.

George is expected to become an Everton player in time for the return of the first senior players to the training ground for pre-season testing on Friday.
