Barcelona are working on adding bringing in new additions this summer alongside the already-signed Anthony Gordon. They have identified Julian Alvarez and Joao Cancelo as leading targets, while there could be more space in the budget for extra signings, especially as they have now returned to La Liga’s 1:1 rule.
Although they have the extra budget for big-money moves, Barcelona will still need to be savvy with their business. It’s why they were trying to sign Jorge Salinas, although a deal for the Real Racing Club de Santander defender is now off after his release clause doubled earlier this week.
One player that would also fall into this category is Pablo Torre, who had a relatively encouraging first season at Mallorca after being sold by Barcelona last summer. The Catalans retained a 50% sell-on clause as part of that deal, meaning that he can be signed for half of his €25m release clause, although they do not intend to pursue this right now, as per [Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/barca-ojo-situacion-pablo-torre-132103979).
Furthermore, Torre is unlikely to leave Mallorca permanently this summer, although he does have a clause in his contract that automatically allows a La Liga club to sign him on loan for the 2026-27 season – as long as they are paying to cover all of his wages.
Barcelona will continue to keep tabs on Torre, and a move could be made in 2027 if he impresses next season. But in terms of right now, Mallorca teammate Jan Virgili is much better placed to return to Catalonia, with recent reports claiming that the back-to-back La Liga champions intend to [re-sign him before immediately sending him on loan](https://barcanewsnetwork.com/barcelona-make-decision-on-former-academy-winger-ahead-of-summer-move/). Virgili was very impressive in his debut season at Son Moix, and a summer exit in any capacity is on the cards.
