Liverpool have been handed a boost in any bid to sign Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram, with the possibility of a discount for the Frenchman. The Serie A giants have transfer plans of their own that will require them to offload the 25-year-old.

The Reds, in addition to Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, have been linked with a move for the son of World Cup winner Lilian Thuram. The Juventus star played 45 times for the club last season but now looks set to part ways.

Juve, instead, have their eye on free agent Franck Kessie, who has run down his contract with Al-Ahli. Reports in Italy suggest they have offered a contract worth £4.2million to the former AC Milan star.

In addition to finding salary space for Kessie, Juventus also want to move Thuram on to bolster their funds to add Stanislav Lobotka, it is claimed. Those demands mean there is room for negotiation.

Juventus are described as 'working hard' to find a move for Thuram. They have set an asking price of £42.9m, but that is considered too expensive for the moment, so how much room there is for manoeuvre could be tested.

Reports last month suggested that Thuram could be available for between £34.7m and £39m as Juventus attempted to generate funds before the club's financial year concludes. Andrea Cambiaso and Gleison Bremer also been tipped as potential sales.

The Italian side appear to be moving on with trying to nail down a deal for Kessie, however. Perhaps that could force their hand later in the window.

Last month, Ivory Coast star Kessie admitted that a move to Juventus was under discussion. He wasn't frightened to talk up his own credentials either.

"Juventus? Yes, they're talking about it , I've seen it," he said. "I'm a great signing. In form, at the World Cup, and above all, a free agent, it's hard to ask for more!

"That's why so many want me, and they're right. My agent is working, I'm getting a lot of calls, and I repeat, it's normal: I'd take him too in these physical and financial conditions..."
