Liverpool legend Jurgen Klopp is facing a Germany contract decision as talks continue over his return to management, around two years after he left Anfield for a break

Jurgen Klopp is set to become the new Germany head coach after Julian Nagelsmann resigned earlier this week, but there are still more details to iron out before anything is confirmed.
According to Sky Germany, the first phone call between the German FA and the Red Bull group, who are Klopp's current employers, only took place today. All parties will meet next week in New York to discuss the next steps.
Klopp and his agent are yet to reach a full agreement with Germany. For instance, there is a decision to be made on whether the Liverpool legend's contract will run until 2028 or 2030.
If his deal runs through to 2028, that will cover the next European Championship, which will be held in England, Scotland, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland.
Going through until 2030 would mean taking charge at the World Cup, which will span Morocco, Portugal and Spain.
"Yes, I can confirm the talks," Klopp said on Magenta TV when asked about his interest in the vacancy. "Things moved pretty quickly. Julian stepped down. The DFB are looking for a successor. And they’re talking to me.

"I’m under contract with Red Bull. I’ve said I’m interested in the talks. They will be intensive because this isn’t only about Julian Nagelsmann.
"I also have to speak with Oliver Mintzlaff. He’s my employer. We’ve already touched on a few things. I assume he won’t stand in the way. I’ve been there for 19 months. It was an intense time."
Should he take over, Klopp's first game is set to be a UEFA Nations League tie with the Netherlands, where he could reunite with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch.
"Regarding the appointment of a new coach, the DFB leadership will now seek talks with Jurgen Klopp," the German FA said in a statement on Friday. "He has already signaled his general willingness to take on the position."
