Arsenal‘s Christian Nørgaard didn’t enjoy a prominent role with the Premier League side last season.
The midfielder ended his six-year spell with Brentford to join the Gunners in July 2025.
He was a regular at Brentford but had to settle for a restricted role at Arsenal. To put it in context, the Dane played 1,040 minutes from 20 matches.
This includes 101 minutes from seven league matches and 630 minutes from cup competitions.
Arsenal could sell Nørgaard
Former Arsenal midfielder Anders Limpar insists Mikel Arteta loves the 32-year-old and Tipsbladet have relayed his comments.
Despite this, he believes the Gunners would have to offload Christian Nørgaard, especially if a new midfielder were to arrive this summer.
The latest claims from the UK and Brazil reports of their interest in Newcastle United star Bruno Guimarães.
Limpar, who played for the north London club between 1990 and 1994, remains confident the Dane will get regular minutes if he leaves Arsenal.
“Guimarães is a top-class player. I feel sorry for Nørgaard. He’s an absolutely incredible player, and he couldn’t fight his way into the starting line-up. I’m not sure he’ll stay. Arteta would love to keep him, because he’ll come on in five to ten matches and do well,” he said.
“If they sign a new midfielder, they’ll have to let Nørgaard go. He could do well for any other Premier League side. It’s unfortunate that we have seven players ahead of him in the pecking order.
“Look at what he did for Brentford. That’s why he’s playing for Arsenal now. He’s definitely going to knock on Arteta’s door and ask what’s going on, saying: ‘I really don’t want to be on the bench next season, and if that’s going to be the case, then let me go.’ And then it’s up to Arteta.”
Arsenal player has clear goal
Last month, Sport Witness relayed news that he’s edging towards leaving the Emirates this summer.
He has already talked about his desire to end his playing career back home. In October 2025, Christian Nørgaard reiterated he will return to Denmark after leaving Arsenal.
His contract expires in 2027, with an option for another year, and Transfermarkt value him at €5m.
If the midfielder were to leave, the English champions are likely to let him leave for a reasonable price.
