Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
Arsenal are keen on strengthening their left wing this summer. They have already agreed on a deal with Besiktas for forward Leandro Trossard, creating room in the squad for a new left winger.
The north London outfit’s primary target is Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, but the Villans are unwilling to listen to offers for him this summer.
As a result, Arsenal are considering a move for Barcola as an alternative to the England international.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano now reports that PSG could sell the French winger this summer.
“Many of you keep asking me, ‘is it true that Barcola prefers one club more than another?’ At this stage, I can guarantee that Barcola is keeping everything open,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“First point: while he is at the World Cup with France, nothing will happen. Second point: PSG want big money.
“Third point: Barcola is not considered an untouchable player by PSG. He’s important for PSG, but he’s not untouchable.
“It means PSG would be happy to continue with him, but if a big offer arrives for both the player and PSG, we have to keep an eye on Barcola.”
Barcola has two years left on his current contract and is reluctant to sign a new deal. He believes he deserves more game time with the UEFA Champions League holders.
PSG are not under pressure to sell the Frenchman and would only entertain a bid of more than £116 million.
It remains unclear how much Arsenal are interested in Barcola, but we believe they should prioritise a move for him over Rogers.
The Lyon academy product, described as ‘sensational’ by PSG manager Luis Enrique, offers a greater threat on the left flank than Rogers, given that he is a natural left-winger.
Although he is capable of missing big chances, he has still outperformed his expected goals (xG) in each of the last two Ligue 1 seasons.
Liverpool are also keen on Barcola, but a move to Arsenal could be more appealing, given the current trajectory of both clubs.
