Arsenal new striker: 3 forwards the Gunners should sign this window

Arsenal new striker: Arsenal won the league. Brilliant. Incredible scenes at the Emirates, obviously. But that agonising Champions League final defeat to PSG on penalties left a right nasty taste in the mouth. Mikel Arteta knows it, too. Viktor Gyokeres did a job in his debut season in North London. He was serviceable, but he wasn’t spectacular. With Gabriel Jesus looking nailed-on to leave this summer, the squad is desperate for a killer up front who can actually terrify Europe’s elite defences. The hunt for a new talisman is well and truly on.

1. Julian Alvarez

Twenty goals and nine assists in 49 games for Atletico Madrid last season. Throw in ten Champions League goals, a club record, including a penalty that knocked Arsenal themselves out in the semi-finals. Alvarez is 26 now and sits comfortably among the most complete forwards on the continent. Arteta has fancied him for ages.

Naturally, there is a massive snag. Barcelona want him, and the Argentine prefers a move to the Nou Camp. Atletico are holding out for around €100m, completely ignoring that absurd €500m release clause. Arsenal have already lodged a proposal. Rumours are swirling about player-plus-cash deals involving Gabriel Martinelli or Jesus to sweeten the pot. If Barça’s finances collapse again, the Gunners are primed to pounce.

2. Victor Osimhen

Osimhen packed his bags for Galatasaray permanently last summer for €75m. He hasn’t stopped scoring since. We are talking about 22 goals and eight assists in 33 games last term, with 7 of those coming in Europe. The Nigerian brings pure chaos. His raw pace, incredible aerial power, and brute strength offer a totally different dynamic to anything currently sitting in the Arsenal dressing room.

The Turkish giants want £112m. It is a staggering amount of money. Then again, for a 27-year-old striking asset at the absolute peak of his powers, you can see why they are demanding it.

3. Eli Junior Kroupi

Thirteen Premier League goals at just 19 years old. A certified record. Kroupi’s debut season at Bournemouth was ridiculous, racking up 0.7 goals per 90 minutes. He scored against Arsenal, he scored against Manchester United, and he bagged the winner against Manchester City that technically handed the Gunners the title. Bournemouth are publicly shouting for £80m to £100m, insisting their star boy is going nowhere. Standard football business, really. Every club says that until the bank transfer clears.

He is 20 now. Kroupi represents the ultimate long-term investment, a player capable of leading the line for the next ten years. Forwards with that ceiling rarely hit the market.
