Xabi Alonso Chelsea
Chelsea new striker options that could transform Xabi Alonso’s attack
Chelsea new striker: From Galatasaray’s in-demand Nigerian to Bournemouth’s teenage sensation, the Blues can’t afford to get this one wrong.
Xabi Alonso has hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge, but a nagging problem remains at centre forward. Liam Delap has managed just three league goals since he arrived from Ipswich Town. The clock is ticking. Chelsea need a new striker with some urgency. Three names stand above the rest right now.
1. Victor Osimhen
Chelsea and Osimhen. It’s a transfer saga that’s dragged on longer than most fans care to remember.
The Nigerian scored 22 goals and registered eight assists across 33 appearances for Galatasaray in all competitions in 2025-26, adding seven Champions League goals to a tally that consistently places him among Europe’s elite finishers. Galatasaray paid €75 million to sign him permanently last summer. They are not in any mood to be charitable. Turkish outlet Sabah reports the Istanbul club won’t entertain bids below £130 million.
That price tag is brutal.
Chelsea would be smashing their own transfer record. Without Champions League football confirmed for next season, the financial argument gets thorny. Still, Osimhen himself has made no secret of his affection for Stamford Bridge. Former Blues midfielder John Obi Mikel has consistently insisted that the player wants this move. Previous negotiations collapsed over wages. Galatasaray reportedly pay him around €290,000 per week, and Chelsea offered roughly a third of that figure during prior talks.
Get that sorted, and the deal has legs.
2. Eli Junior Kroupi
Nineteen years old. 13 Premier League goals in 33 appearances during his debut English season.
The France Under-21 international arrived at Bournemouth from Lorient last summer, and he’s already broken a 20-year-old record by becoming the first teenager to reach double figures in their first Premier League campaign. Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, PSG, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have all registered serious interest. The Blues have reportedly asked Bournemouth to be kept informed of any movement in his situation.
Bournemouth’s position is firm. Director of football Tiago Pinto told 365scores flatly that Kroupi will not be leaving this summer. Their asking price has been variously reported at £80 million and £100 million, with some sources suggesting €100 million-plus would be required. Former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda, who knows this club’s history, reckons the teenager might actually benefit from one more season developing at the Vitality Stadium rather than being thrown straight into a title-chasing squad.
3. Julián Álvarez
Álvarez wants out of Atlético Madrid. He’s said so publicly.
The Argentine has accumulated 49 goals and 17 assists across 106 appearances for Atlético since joining from Manchester City in 2024. The 26-year-old is arguably in the finest form of his career. Chelsea were linked with a potential €150 million approach earlier in 2026. Atlético’s valuation for non-Spanish rivals sits at around €120 million, though the club has publicly referenced a €500 million release clause for domestic enemies, which tells you everything about how they operate. His market value currently sits at approximately €103.7 million.
The problem for Chelsea is Barcelona. Reports indicate Álvarez has already agreed personal terms with the Blaugrana, who see him as the ideal successor to Robert Lewandowski. Real Madrid made a rejected bid of €150 million in early June. Chelsea’s lack of Champions League football is another genuine obstacle. A player of Álvarez’s calibre wants the biggest stages consistently. Stamford Bridge can’t guarantee that right now.

Kroupi remains the most realistic long-term signing. He is young, Premier League-proven, and already familiar with English football’s demands. Osimhen is the statement move, if Chelsea can stomach the fee and sort the wages. Either one would make Alonso’s attack considerably more dangerous heading into 2026-27.
