Alisson became the sixth Liverpool player to bow out of the World Cup after Brazil’s 2-1 defeat to Norway in the last 16.
Alisson‘s World Cup campaign ended at the hands of Erling Haaland, with the Norwegian striker finding the net twice in the final 11 minutes of normal time.
The two teams had been in an even battle up until the 79th minute, with Norway dominating possession but the Selecao firing off more shots.
Bruno Guimaraes had the opportunity to edge Brazil into a first-half lead via the penalty spot, but his stuttered run-up allowed Orjan Nyland to save his strike and keep the scores level.
The breakthrough came in the 79th minute, with Haaland directing a header into the bottom corner before he then converted a low driven effort from the edge of the box in the 90th.
Neymar scored a consolation goal from the spot 10 minutes into added time after Casemiro was fouled, but there was no time to mount a comeback.
GOAL‘s Tom Maston gave the Liverpool goalkeeper a rating of six out of 10 after having “no chance with either goal” and his excellent smother on Martin Odegaard.
While *Zero Hora*‘s Leonardo Oliveira gave the 33-year-old a lower rating of five out of 10, he agreed that the ‘keeper “made two great saves in the second [half]” and “that there was nothing he could do about the first; [and] the second came from a long-range shot.”

FotMob, meanwhile, rated Alisson‘s performance a 6.5 out of 10 after three saves but failing to find a teammate with any of his five attempted long passes.
While Alisson was absolved of blame for his side’s elimination, he will harbour deep disappointment at what was, realistically, his last opportunity to lift the trophy.
When will Alisson return for Liverpool pre-season?

Every player knocked out of the World Cup is expected to have three weeks off, at minimum, meaning the earliest Alisson will be due to return is the week commencing July 27.
This is during the club’s pre-season tour of the US, which could see the Brazilian arrive around the friendly against Wrexham in New York on July 29, which is followed by the final match against Leeds in Chicago (August 2).
At this stage, Andoni Iraola will be expected to have welcomed back Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz, and Alexander Isak after their knockout exits.
It is an unexpected boost for Liverpool to have the majority of their senior squad reunite weeks in advance of the season opener on August 23 at Newcastle.
