Everton are ahead of other clubs in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Christian Kofane this summer.
The Bundesliga side invested €5m to sign the striker from Albacete Balompié in July 2025 and he had to settle for a limited role last season.
He has managed seven goals and nine assists from 44 matches, including 20 starts. Everton are the latest club to make advances for the 20-year-old’s signature.
On May 18th, we relayed news that Arsenal and Barcelona were in pole position, ahead of Newcastle United, Chelsea, Brentford and Bayern Munich.
His agent, Eric Depolo, has already confirmed Arsenal are keen on the player.
“Arsenal’s interest is serious. With Kofane, Arsenal would have a top striker for the next 10 years. He’s a €100m player,” he said.
At the weekend, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany that the Gunners are in contact and the Magpies are also making a move. Bayer Leverkusen are looking to collect close to €100m.
Everton awaiting response
The Merseyside club have now taken the lead to sign the Cameroon international. That’s according to Africa Foot, who make it clear it’s their own information about the Toffees.
The outlet states the Premier League winners, Eddie Howe’s side, Barca and other clubs are following him.
Everton seem to be aware of the growing interest in Christian Kofane. They wanted to sign him prior to his move to the Bundesliga side and have continued to keep a close watch.
The Toffees have now made advances by tabling a concrete offer to the Bundesliga side.
Africa Foot makes no mention of the fee proposed by David Moyes’ side or the German club’s request.
Everton remain hopeful their official bid would be enough to convince Bayer Leverkusen and are now awaiting their response.
High price for Everton target
Christian Kofane
Christian Kofane has three years left on his contract, and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €40m.
The latest claims and his agent’s admission from April point to a big price for the frontman.
The official proposal from David Moyes’ side is unlikely to come close to €100m, although that may just have been agent hype.
