Liverpool are interested in signing Almeria attacking midfielder Sergio Arribas, according to reports in the Spanish media.
Granada-based newspaper Ideal claim that the Reds have “burst into the race” for the 24-year-old’s signature.

Arribas has also been attracting interest from Liga Portugal side Sporting Lisbon, following a season where he caught the eye with his goalscoring exploits.
The Spaniard found the back of the net 26 times in Spain’s second tier, helping Almeria to a third-place finish.
Real Madrid could play a key role in any deal for Arribas
Like Victor Munoz, the Almeria playmaker came through the ranks of the La Liga side’s youth academy. He left the Bernabeu in the summer of 2023 but Ideal report that Real retain a 50% sell-on clause.
That likely means that Arribas’ asking price will be significantly higher than it would have otherwise been, with Almeria keen to receive a decent sum from his sale.

Liverpool are trying to uncover hidden gems
Due to the insane prices in the transfer market, it is clear that sporting director Richard Hughes is trying to be creative in the Merseyside club’s pursuit of new additions.
The move for Munoz came out of left field, having been plucked from a team that only narrowly avoided relegation, and the interest in Arribas is arguably even more surprising, considering he is a Spanish second-tier player.
While the attacking midfielder would add greater depth to Andoni Iraola‘s forward options, it is hard to see where he would fit in the starting eleven. As a no.10, he would be in direct competition with Florian Wirtz for starts. Perhaps, he is simply being considered as a backup for the German international.
